Top Tips on How to Install a Gas-fired Warm Air Heater

Installing a Reznor gas-fired warm air heater is a cost-effective and efficient choice for your large industrial or commercial space. Our heaters are known for their efficiency and durability, but a successful installation is crucial to ensure they function optimally. In particular, our PHOTON is our latest generation suspended gas fired unit heater designed to deliver outstanding energy efficiency, performance and economy for reduced operating and life cycle costs.

With the heating season approaching, this guide will provide you with the top tips on how to install the Photon warm air heater safely and effectively, ensuring you are prepared for the colder months.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools and Materials needed for safe installation

Being well-prepared when installing gas-fired warm air unit heaters in a large industrial space is of paramount importance. It serves as a critical safeguard against potential risks and ensures the smooth functioning of the heating system. Adequate preparation involves a thorough understanding of all relevant standards, codes of practice, and local regulations, ensuring that the installation complies with safety requirements.

Additionally, precise positioning and location are vital to prevent hazardous situations, especially in industrial environments prone to flammable substances. Proper planning also extends to the ventilation and flueing of combustion byproducts to maintain air quality. Electrical considerations must not be overlooked, and having a qualified electrician on hand guarantees that the installation aligns with industry regulations. Lastly, a well-prepared approach to gas pipework, with the inclusion of isolating valves and flexible connections, ensures safety and convenience during maintenance. In essence, preparedness is the cornerstone of a successful and secure unit heater installation, safeguarding both the facility and its occupants.

Installation tips for the Photon warm air heater

Installation - Firstly, ensure that the units are not only properly installed but also fully aligned with all the pertinent standards and codes of practice. Additionally, adhere to the guidelines set by local authorities, fire officers, insurers, and the installation manual's provided details.

Position and Location - Each heater is equipped with four built-in suspension points featuring an M10 female thread. It's imperative to avoid installing the units in environments containing flammable or explosive vapours, combustible dust, halogenated hydrocarbons, chlorinated vapours, or areas where contaminants could negatively impact electrical motors and connections.

Flueing - The combustion byproducts from the unit must be vented outside the building. These units have a blown burner and can be installed in room-sealed or flue-only applications classified as B23, B53, C13, and C33 under the PD CR 1749 "Classification of gas appliances according to the method of supplying combustion air and evacuation of combustion products (types)." Adequate consideration should be given to providing air for combustion and ventilation.

Electrical - These units are suitable for a single-phase electrical supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician to meet the current IET Regulations. The electrical supply should remain connected unless isolated for maintenance purposes.

Gas Pipework - Each heater should be equipped with a flexible connection, isolating valves, and unions. The gas pipework must be installed in accordance with the applicable standards and codes of practice.
